3 to 4 hours of free time in Niagara Falls
You will have around 3 hours (winter) to 4 hours (summer) of free time in the waterfalls area of Niagara Falls. Your licensed tour guide will provide you with information and advice on how to spend your time. Each attraction you do will take around 1 - 1.5 hours. There are many great restaurants for lunch, with plenty of options for sit-down restaurants or fast food. Your tour guide can also tell you about lunch options that have beautiful views overlooking the waterfalls.
Add skip-the-line tickets for popular attractions when booking your tour, or purchase tickets on the day of your tour. In the summer (this year it is March 28 - November 30) we include the Hornblower boat cruise, a 20-minute ride into the mist of the Canadian Horseshoe waterfalls. When the boat is not running, we include admission to Journey Behind the Falls (a viewing balcony and tunnels that are right next to the Canadian Horseshoe waterfalls).
Other optional and popular attractions you can add when you are in Niagara Falls include the Skylon Tower observation deck (approx. $20 per ticket) or a 12-minute helicopter ride over the waterfalls ($151 per ticket). If you are interested in these options ask your tour guide. Most people don't add these extras and instead opt to explore the beauty of Niagara Falls at their own pace, take a scenic walk along the waterfalls and check out the Clifton Hill strip. No matter how you spend your free time, you will have a fun and memorable experience.
