We'll take a 35-minute rest stop at Maple Leaf Place to try 3 different types of maple syrup, maple candies and local chocolates. You'll have a chance to use clean, quiet restrooms before we continue to Niagara Falls.

3 to 4 hours of free time in Niagara Falls

You will have around 3 to 4 hours of free time in the waterfalls area of Niagara Falls. Your licensed tour guide will provide you with information and advice on how to spend your time. You can explore nature and do 1-2 optional attractions. There are many great restaurants for lunch, including healthy, fast-food and sit-down restaurants. Some restaurants have a view overlooking the waterfalls.

Add skip-the-line tickets for popular attractions when booking your tour, or purchase tickets on the day of your tour. In the summer (this year it is March 28 - November 30) we include the Hornblower boat cruise, a 20-minute ride into the mist of the Canadian Horseshoe waterfalls. When the boat is not running, we include admission to Journey Behind the Falls (a balcony in front of the waterfalls).

Add other optional attractions when you are in Niagara Falls like the Skylon Tower observation deck (approx. $20 per ticket) or a 12-minute helicopter ride over the waterfalls ($151 per ticket). If you are interested in these options ask your tour guide. Most people don't add these extras and instead explore the beauty of Niagara Falls at their own pace, take a scenic walk along the waterfalls and check out the Clifton Hill strip. No matter how you spend your free time, you will have a fun and memorable experience.

Scenic Niagara Photo Stops

Enjoy a scenic drive across the famous Niagara Parkway with commentary from your tour guide, and scenic stops at our favourite landmarks. Your tour guide will take photos of you along the way. The stops vary depending on the time of year but generally include 2-3 of below. The Niagara Whirlpool, Niagara's giant floral clock (summer), the huge Canadian and American hydro-power stations and the majestic Queenston Heights scenic lookout point.

Return to Toronto

You'll have a chance to nap on the way back to Toronto which usually takes around 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions. You should usually arrive back in Mississauga around 16:30 or Toronto around 17:30. Under normal traffic conditions we’ll get back early enough that you can enjoy the evening in Toronto.

If you select the standard tour without attractions, you can get attraction tickets at the ticket box in Niagara Falls. Options include the Hornblower boat tour (open approx. March 28 - December 1), Journey Behind the Falls (recommended when the boat is closed), the Skylon Tower and the Niagara SkyWheel. Your tour guide can book a 12-minute helicopter ride for you over the falls. Do not pre-book the helicopter. It doesn't run if the weather is not safe for operation. You will get a $30 discount with your tour guide.

Niagara Falls Day Tour FAQ

The Niagara Falls Day Tour is approximately 9 hours long, depending on your pick-up location and traffic. Pick-up times range from 7:45 to 8:20 AM in Toronto or at 8:55 AM in Mississauga. The return to Mississauga is around 4:30 to 5:00 PM and the return to Toronto is around 5:00 to 6:00 PM. Specific times depend on daily conditions and traffic.

On rare occasions we might return past 6:00 PM, however, this is not the norm.

You can select the basic tour without an additional attraction ticket, or our recommended option with an attraction ticket. In the summer we include tickets to the Hornblower Boat Cruise and in the winter, we include tickets for Journey Behind the Falls. The boat cruise usually opens around March 28 to December 1st, depending on the weather. Both options will bring you close to the mist of the incredible Canadian Horseshoe Falls.

Aside from the Hornblower Boat Cruise or Journey Behind the Falls, you will have time for 1 more attraction, and sometimes even 2 more depending on the lines. Other options include:

A 12-minute helicopter ride above the waterfalls (approx. $151 after our tour discount)

Please do not purchase advance attraction tickets because the itinerary will change day-to-day and we can't guarantee times. Especially for the helicopter ride, your tour guide needs to call them in the morning to make sure the skies are safe to fly that day (plus you will have a discount from our partnership with them if you pay for it at the helicopter ticket box).

There are a ton of awesome restaurants you can choose from in Niagara Falls, or you can bring your own lunch and have a picnic in the park or eat indoors.

Options range from cheaper fast-food restaurants to nicer sit-down restaurants. Many great choices have views of the waterfalls while dining. Ask your tour guide for advice!

The Niagara Falls Day Tour is generally the same in the winter and summer. The winter tour is usually a bit shorter because there is less traffic on the roads and there are no line-ups in Niagara Falls. In the summer we extend your free time in Niagara Falls due to the line-ups.

In the summer you will be able to ride the famous Hornblower Boat Cruise. When the boat is closed for a few months in the winter (usually around December to April depending on the weather conditions), we replace the boat cruise with Journey Behind the Falls tickets.

Niagara Falls is absolutely stunning in the summer with all the parks and gardens. It is also gorgeous in the winter with snow and ice everywhere. Both will be incredible experiences.

We offer our guests 3 to 4 hours of free time in Niagara Falls. This is enough time for 1-2 attractions, photos and lunch. You can enjoy a beautiful scenic walk alongside the waterfalls, visit Clifton Hill, do the Hornblower boat cruise or Journey Behind the Falls, and have a yummy lunch. With your free time, the tour guide will give you many suggestions of things to do and you can craft your own plan.
